Most of us take electricity in our homes for granted. The cables run inside the walls, and fuse boxes are often hidden away, making it easy to forget that electrical systems do need
checking periodically. Cables, switches, socket-outlets, and other accessories deteriorate with use and misuse. All of our installations are wired to the 17th edition current specification.
The 17th edition contains substantial changes to align with European documents. BS 7671:2008 (The IEE Wiring Regulations) are the national standard to which all domestic and industrial wiring must conform. Probably the single most important change in the 17th Edition - in terms of the homeowner - is the new requirement for additional protection by the use of Residual Current Devices (RCDs), or Residual Current Devices with Overcurrent Protection (RCBOs). These now need to be provided to nearly all circuits within dwellings.
There are several signs to look out for that indicate the age of your electrical system:

Old style fuseboards such as these can be found in many older properties and do need updating to the latest consumer units complete with the latest MCB and RCD protection.
We supply and fit the latest 17th Edition consumer units from Wylex which are all manufactured to the highest specification for safety and quality. The installation of a new fuseboard is covered by our 10 years of FREE call outs* should anything go wrong with them.

Our surveyors will always take the time to fully explain the results of the survey in plain and easy to understand language. Our aim is to ensure that you, the homeowner, are better informed, and most importantly, safer.
